バーニー･ケッセルは、チャーリー･クリスチャンがもたらしたエレクトリック・ギターの革命期にギターを志し、ほぼ、ジャズギターの歴史とともに歩んで来た貴重な存在だ。演奏スタイルは初期のたどたどしいスタイルから、後年は後輩のウエス・モンゴメリーやジム･ホールにも影響が及んでいる。初期ジャズギターからモダン・ジャズギターへの橋渡しをした貴重な存在であったバーニー・ケッセル、持ち味はややひっかり気味の単音ソ
