Two CD + 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Digitally remastered and expanded 50th Anniversary edition. Includes the original album newly remastered by The Doors longtime engineer and mixer Bruce Botnick, plus a bonus disc of unreleased studio outtakes, and the original album on virgin vinyl. For this new collection, the original album has been expanded with more than an hour of unreleased recordings taken from the sessions for Morrison Hotel. These 19 outtakes transport listeners into the studio with Jim Morrison, John Densmore, Robby Krieger, and Ray Manzarek for an unprecedented perspective on the making of the album. Among the treasure trove of unreleased outtakes are also rough versions of Morrison Hotel tracks Peace Frog and Blue Sunday, as well as The Doors rarity I Will Never Be Untrue. The collection also captures some incredible session outtakes of the band jamming on cover versions of the Motown classic Money (Thats What I Want) and B.B. Kings Rock Me.

Morrison Hotel： 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition (2CD+LP)について。本作に関しては、個別にCDのみのリリースはないようです(2012年3月)。40周年ミックスは新たなファンにも向けられていたのに対し、この50周年リマスターはオールド・ファン向けで、こちらを購入するようにと誘導されているのかも知れません。豪華版にあっては、まあ良心的な価格ですね。サイケデリックから、ブルース・ロック、ハードなロック・サウンドへの回帰というのが本作でしょうか。大傑作とはいえないけど、骨太で聽きごたえのある作品だと思います。DISC 2では、主要曲「Roadhouse Blues」「Queen Of The Highway」の多くのテークを収録し、制作過程を見せてくれます。本作もCDは、いわゆるハイレゾCD(MQA-CD)ですが、わたしはデコーダーを持ち合わせていないので、その効用はわかりません。
