時は後漢末。
乱世の奸雄曹操により、隠れ里から連れ出された『猫族』(まおぞく)。
人間の体に獣の耳を持つ彼らは、猫の姿の妖怪『金眼』(きんめ)の
子孫と言われ人間たちから忌み嫌われていた。
人間たちは猫が十二支から外れたという昔話から
十三番目の干支、『十三支』(じゅうざ)と呼び彼らを蔑んだ。
