マッコイ系のピアノスタイルが元にある。本来、モンクやフリーをやりたいところを毒にも薬にもならないアルバムばかり作らせられている。私は、このピアニストをしっかり捉えたCDの一枚はこれであると断言できる。芯がしっかりしており、また長くキャリアを適切に積んだからこその演奏がここにある。サイドマンとして優秀であるせいかよくわからない演奏もするので、この人のアルバムは、相当選ばないと面白くない。本作は、曲も構成もいい。100点。
