Housed in a six-panel softpak. Digitally remastered and expanded 40th Anniversary edition. Hotel California is the fifth studio album by the Eagles, and is one of the best-selling albums of all time. Three singles were released from the album, each reaching high in the Billboard Hot 100: New Kid in Town (#1), Hotel California (#1), and Life in the Fast Lane (#11). The album became the band's best-selling album after Their Greatest Hits (19711975), with over 16 million copies sold in the U.S. alone and over 32 million copies sold worldwide.

disc2の1977年10月のロサンゼルスでのライブの感想です。 全10曲ながら、「ホテ・カル」40周年記念として発表されるに ふさわしいライブテイクです。 まず、グレン・フライのリードボーカル曲が多い。初期の曲 もあります。また、初代ベーシストのランディ・マイズナーが 当たり前ですが全曲で演奏しています。 そして今までもライブ盤には収録されなかった曲が５曲も 収録されています。 このように、実にバランスの良いライブ盤となりました。 ライブ初収録の曲としては、「地獄のよき日」での ライブにおけるヘンリーとフェルダーのツインボーカルに ドン・フェルダーのスライドが切り込んでいくところ、 「魔女のささやき」や「呪われた夜」で見せるヘヴィネス、 「ファンク#49」のジョー・ウォルシュの必殺のリフ、 そして「過ぎた事」でのフライのロックンロールと サビでのコーラス。 たった10曲でこれだけの聞きどころ。やはりイーグルスは すごいです。

イーグルスの代表作。Disc1はもう聞き飽きるくらい、聴いているので 目当てはDisc２のライブ。ホテルカリフォルニアの演奏時の観客があまり盛り上がらないのも、リリースからまだ間もないからからか。後年の同曲演奏時の盛り上がり方と比較すると興味深い。DISC２の完全版が聴きたくなった。
