Product Description

New Order have impeccably timed their return to music with eighth studio album, ‘Waiting For The Sirens' Call'. Whilst the NME have recognised New Order's ‘Godlike Genius' at their recent awards ceremony, new bands like The Killers and Franz Ferdinand have been dominating the charts with their electronica-influenced indie sound being heavily inspired by the seminal Manchunians. Although ‘Blue Monday' was released over twenty years ago, New Order have continually proved themselves to possess the longevity and relevance to be competitive in today's music scene.

With ‘Waiting For The Sirens' Call', the band deliver vulnerable yet commanding vocals over universal songs of love, relationships, and day-to-day living, soundtracked to infectious riffs and inspired beats and rhythms. Standout tracks on the album include the anthemic and rousing ‘Hey Now What You Doing', the synth-lite pop brilliance of first single ‘Krafty' and the Scissor Sisters-collaboration ‘Jetstream', with its pulsating vitality and a trademarked meandering bass from Hook. The band also branch out from their typically atmospheric 80s electronica into full-blown pop glory on ‘Morning Night And Day', with its rumbling rhythm, shimmering wall of guitar riffs and honey-vocal delivery from Sumner, and on album closer ‘Working Overtime', a Britpop-esque track, with its catchy 60s inspired rhythm, post-modern references and a certain rock ‘n' roll swagger.

‘Waiting For The Siren's Call' is not only a successful album because of its so-in-vogue 80s retrospective, but also because it marks a compromise between New Order's trademarked Synthpop sound and the guitar-rock edge from previous album ‘Get Ready', creating a more cohesive and enjoyable album for the generations of fans and followers, old and new.
