この一連のシリーズのディベルティメント集...

この一連のシリーズのディベルティメント集は、Ｎｏ．５だけ買いそびれてしまっていて、そのＮｏ．５もいつの間にか廃盤になっていました。その後ハイドンイヤーあたりからＢＩＳよりこの一連のシリーズが再発されていたので、首を長くして待っていました。このディベルティメント集はＢＯＸでの再発売のため現所有の４枚分がダブってしまいましたが、この価格ならば許せます。しかも、かつての録音にはなかった、管楽器のためのディベルティメントなども新録音で含まれていて、まことにうれしい限りです。しばし、至福の時間を過ごせそうです。

この全集に収められた作品群を聞くと、エステルハーザとは、言わば「音楽のガラパゴス」と言うべき空間だったのだなと実感させられる。孤立していたが故に独自の進化を遂げた世界。それは時にいびつだったり不格好だったりするが、その規格から外れた異形さがたまらなく愛らしくもある。ハイドンの初期ディヴェルメントはそれ自体で完結した小宇宙であり、質的に「朝」「昼」「晩」交響曲と変わらない（あるいはそれ以上の）奇想幻想に溢れている。特にHob.Ⅱ：17は、ハイドンが初めてクラリネットを使った30分近い大曲であり、このフスの演奏以外録音がないようなので非常に貴重である。ここでのクラリネットの使い方は吹奏楽的で、メロディアスではないが、ユニークで楽しい。Hob.Ⅱ：16やHob.Ⅱ：24のイングリッシュ・ホルンの音色の面白さ、Hob.Ⅳ：1のホルンとチェンバロの音色の取り合わせの妙など、聞き所に満ちている。録音は少し癖があるが、これらの曲の魅力を十分伝えている。ハイドンの初期ディヴェルメントはもっと古楽器演奏による録音が増えてほしいジャンルである。
