Reissue of the digitally remastered and expanded edition of this album by the British pop-punk/alt-rock outfit. Mummer was the sixth studio album by XTC, released in August 1983. It reached #51 on the UK album chart and #145 on the U.S. Billboard album charts. Mummer spawned three UK singles - Great Fire, Wonderland and Love on a Farmboy's Wages (which reached #50 on the UK singles chart). Includes six bonus tracks.

XTCの歴代のｱﾙﾊﾞﾑの中では地味な評価を受けるのが本作。確かにBlack Seaのようなﾉｲｼﾞｰなｷﾞﾀｰ･ｻｳﾝﾄﾞは後退したが、本作ではｺﾘﾝ･ﾑｰﾙﾃﾞｨﾝｸﾞの牧歌的な楽曲が楽しめる。とりわけｼﾝｸﾞﾙ･ｶｯﾄされたWonderlandとLove On A Farmboy’s Wages は名曲です。当時は新進のｽﾃｨｰｳﾞ･ﾅｲのﾌﾟﾛﾃﾞｭｰｽ･ﾜｰｸも冴えています。

とても牧歌的な雰囲気のALBUM。当時、AndyのVirginとの確執やツアーで溜まった疲労がこういう作風に向かわせたのでしょう、リハビリ的作品。

ア○○ンでは、この作品を「穴蔵にこもって作られた」と連呼する小難しい方もおられましたが、そんなに否定する程でもないです。穴蔵から出てきて散歩しているようなさわやかな、わかり易い曲もありますよ。難しく考えるひつようはないです。おすすめです
