少々抽象的になりますが、アンディ・パートリッジも言っている通り、頑固に英国らしさにこだわっているバンド。このアルバムは骨太な感じで人気のある作品です。個人的には「ＳＫＹＬＡＲＫＩＮＧ」が好きだったりします。

私もＸＴＣのアルバムといえばコレ。Ｍ３のキューバソングは、当時ＦＭラジオでもよく紹介されていました。（といってもコアなロック番組だけの話だが）それだけインパクトのある名曲だと思います。あとプロデューサーが、Ｓ・リリー・ホワイトだったこともあって、全体的にドラム音がやたら強調されているもの特徴ですね。ギターは、ソリッドで乾いていてギャングオブフォーを意識しているのかな。この頃のアンディパートリッジは、とても意欲的でいろいろな実験的なアイデアを詰め込んだ結果、生まれた作品だと思います。それでいてポップに仕上っているので、飽きがこないんですね。ずばり８０年代の名盤です。
