    エドワード・ゴーリー作品を代表する人気者、うろん君が登場する絵本。カフカの「父の気がかり」をよりわかりやすくしたような作品。ゴーリーはこの作品を友人にこどもを作るなんて気が知れない！という思いを込めて書いたという説がありますが、はたしてどうでしょう。白黒の絵で描かれた人物たちが一様に沈鬱な表情をしているなか、もっとも生き生きしているのはうろん君なので、読者としてはうろん君を愛せずにはいられません。
